Four Mark Twain Projects Receive Regional Honor Awards
Rolla, Mo. - Four Mark Twain National Forest projects were recognized recently for excellence.
The four were selected from among hundreds submitted from within a 20 state area.
Those being honored include:
Doyle Henken, silviculturist, now retired, for starting “Ecology Days” in Texas County 30 yrs ago to help young people learn about the science behind managing forest resources.
Americops St. Louis, for their partnershipwith Mark Twain National Forest in 2008, which helped improve the efficiency and effectiveness of program delivery in recreation services and fire programs.
Cedar Creek Grazing Association for their ongoing partnership with Mark Twain to manage a spectrum of resources at Cedar Creek land base near Fulton, Mo.
Ava/Cassville/Willow Springs Ranger District, Boy Scouts of America and the project Incident Command Team for successfully organizing and implementing a week-long conservation project for nearly 600 Boy Scouts on Mark Twain June 2009.
“We’re very proud of our employees and their continued accomplishments to continue to restore and maintain Missouri’s healthy forests,” said David Whittekiend, Mark Twain National Forest Supervisor.
