Detailed Forecast Discussion
Wednesday, January 14: Southeasterly winds will bring some pollutants into the Youngstown area during the afternoon hours; however, low pollutant carryover from previous days will result in Good AQI levels. Thursday, January 15: As a low-pressure system departs to the east, westerly winds behind it will disperse pollutants and bring a clean, cold airmass into the Mahoning Valley. These conditions will limit particle formation, resulting in Good AQI levels. Friday, moderate westerly winds, low pollutant carryover, and a very dry airmass over Youngstown will keep AQI levels in the Good range. Saturday, moderate southwesterly winds ahead of an approaching low-pressure system will disperse pollutants in the Youngstown area. Therefore, AQI levels will remain Good. Sunday, westerly winds behind the departing low-pressure system will disperse pollutants and keep AQI levels Good. Monday, southerly winds ahead of an approaching low-pressure system will transport pollutants into the region, resulting in Moderate AQI levels.
