Fire Fighter Fatality Investigation and Prevention Program

The NIOSH Fire Fighter Fatality Investigation and Prevention Program seeks stakeholder input to improve the program and enhance impact on fire fighter safety and health. Information provided to NIOSH at the March 22, 2006 stakeholder meeting in Washington, DC and through the established docket will be used to refine the program to ensure it meets the needs of stakeholders.

Stakeholder Input for CBRN Respirators and Powered Air-Purifying Respirators
  • NIOSH conducted a public meeting on December 13, 2005 , to continue discussions of concepts for Standards for Approval of Respirators for use against CBRN agents, and concepts for Standards for a Multi-Function Powered, Air-Purifying Respirators (PAPR).
  • NIOSH conducted a public meeting on July 20, 2005 , to address concepts regarding standards for approval of respirators used against CBRN, and guidelines for their use; and concepts and standards for multi-function powered air-purifying respirators.
  • NIOSH conducted a public stakeholder meeting on December 15, 2004 , to continue discussions for concepts of powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) used for respiratory protection against CBRN agents. An Introduction to Concepts for Closed Circuit, Self Contained, Breathing Apparatus Standards Development Efforts Used for Respiratory Protection Against CBRN Agents will also be discussed.
  • NIOSH conducted a public stakeholder meeting on May 4, 2004 , to continue discussions for concepts of powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR) used for respiratory protection against CBRN agents.
