Protects civilian rights and liberties, upholds and interprets the law, and resolves disputes peacefully, fairly and effectively in the nation's capital; hears civil, criminal, administrative, family, landlord and tenant, and other cases involving DC law; issues marriage licenses and accepts filings for divorce; and, the DC Superior Court Jurors' Office summons District of Columbia residents for jury service.*
