Specific Job Task Skills and Knowledge

1. Using AWIPS, demonstrate an ability to analyze the current hydrologic situation using observational data and database information.

2. Using AWIPS, demonstrate an ability to interpret hydrologic forecast model information in terms of probable flooding events.

3. Using AWIPS, demonstrate an ability to integrate analysis and forecast information derived in tasks (1) and (2) into the forecast and warning decision making process.

Instructional Components

Instructional Component 4.1: Work with AWIPS to determine what observational data sets are available and use these data sets to analyze the current hydrologic situation. [1]

Instructional Component 4.2: Work with AWIPS to determine what hydrologic forecast model information is available and use these data sets to determine probable flooding events. [2]

Instructional Component 4.3: Work with AWIPS to integrate all available information and data into the forecast and warning decision making process. [3]

Proposed Evaluation

Evaluation 4.1: Instructional Components 4.1 through 4.3 will be evaluated subjectively via the quality of the forecast and warning products developed by inidividual AWIPS users.
