Description of Job Duty Competency to be Achieved

Demonstrate the ability to communicate with the public and to interact effectively with the media.

Description of Need

Effective communication with the public and media is required.

Specific Job Task Skills and Knowledge

1. Demonstrate the ability to recruit suitable observers.

2. Demonstrate the ability to prepare press releases in accordance with NOAA standards.

3. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with the local media to promote the program and the NWS.

4. Demonstrate skill in public speaking.

5. Demonstrate the ability to interact effectively with the community.

6. Demonstrate the ability to coordinate program issues effectively with other agencies.
