The Knoxville News Sentinel today profiles Southern Appalachian Fund portfolio company Protein Discovery, a clinical diagnostics company developing new sample preparation technologies that harness the power of mass spectrometry.
In March, Protein Discovery closed a $10 million Series C round of equity financing led by Santé Ventures and joined by CDVCA member the Southern Appalachian Fund, among others.
As noted in the article, Protein Discovery has taken over an entire floor of a downtown Knoxville building, and upped its employee total to 20. The company was conceived at a 2001 University of Tennessee entrepreneurial class.
