Kamiah, Idaho-- Two years ago, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Director James Lee Witt introduced "Project Impact: Building Disaster Resistant Communities," a new initiative designed to mitigate the worst effects of natural disasters through local stakeholder partnerships. The initial seven pilot communities have grown to over 120 cities, counties and boroughs across America. On Wednesday evening, September 29, the City of Kamiah becomes the initiative's newest member as Mayor Bob Olive meets with stakeholder partners to officially sign the Project Impact Memorandum of Agreement, at the Kamiah Elementary School multipurpose room.
