FEMA Y2K Bulletin Available On-Line

SEATTLE, Wash. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Y2K Bulletin, designed as a consumer's guide to preparing for the Year 2000, is available on-line (www.fema.gov), through the agency's popular "Fax-on-Demand" service by calling (202) 646-FEMA), or by calling 1-800-480-2520. According to FEMA Regional Director David L. de Courcy, being prepared is critical in dealing with any potential emergency.
"The Y2K Bulletin answers the most commonly asked questions about Y2K; suggests tips on how to treat electronic products, including personal computers; and offers tips for small business owners," said de Courcy. "We're advocating the same approach that works so well with earthquakes, tornadoes and flooding -- solid planning, prudent preparedness and mitigation activities BEFORE disaster strikes."
FEMA is the lead agency for the President's Council on Y2K Conversion's Emergency Services Sector working group, working with the nation's emergency services providers to assess their readiness to operate normally up to, during, and after the clock rolls over to the year 2000.
