Albany, NY -- Today there was an aftershock in the AuSable Forks vicinity, the same area where an earthquake occurred on April 20th. Assistance is still available to those in the six upstate New York counties (Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Warren and Washington) who were affected by the April 20th earthquake and those who may have been affected by today's aftershock, according to Federal Coordinating Officer Marianne C. Jackson of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

"It's important that everyone call FEMA at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) to register for assistance as soon as possible, whether you suffered damages from the April earthquake or from today's aftershock," said State Coordinating Officer Edward F. Jacoby, Jr. of the State Emergency Management Office (SEMO).

"Once someone has registered with FEMA, they can call FEMA's toll-free HELPLINE at 1-800-525-0321 to check on the status of their application or find out more about available assistance," Jackson noted.
