Description
The Community Development and Applied Economics Department (CDAE) supports sustainable local, regional and international communities through interdisciplinary research, education, and outreach that serve the public interest. Areas of study include: urban and rural community development; community entrepreneurship; agricultural and resource issues and solutions; applied economics; management; strategic planning; marketing; public policy; health care; leadership; international public administration; human resources; budgeting/financial resource management; organizational development; transportation; technology transfer.
Requirements
The following criteria is used to determine graduate admissions: a sound academic record, satisfactory scores on the general aptitude section of the GRE, three letters of recommendation attesting to the candidate’s academic and/or work performance; and a strong motivation and academic potential for graduate work articulated in a statement of purpose. The review process for completed applications takes between four and six weeks.

Once accepted into the program, Peace Corps Fellows are required to complete the following during their graduate studies:
- 150 hours of community service is required with a community, government, or non-governmental organization benefiting underserved communities.
- To receive 6 academic credits based on your Peace Corps experience, fellows must write a reflection paper under the guidance of the Peace Corps Fellows Director.
