The Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) uses data from a series of sensors to produce a METAR observation.
Although each weather element in this observation uses its own set of algorithms to process information from one or more sensors, the basic process used by all elements is similar.

The purpose of this module is to describe this basic process and enhance your understanding of how the process works.
