PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE SET FOR TRANSMISSION LINE UPGRADE
LAKEWOOD, Colo.—An open house for the Granby Pumping Plant-to-Windy Gap Transmission Line Project is set for Nov. 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Mountain Parks Electric Community Room, 321 West Agate Avenue, Granby.
Western Area Power Administration is preparing an Environmental Assessment to analyze several solutions that will ensure that key components of the electric system in Grand County will continue to operate within established electrical criteria. Upgrades in the area will also allow Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association to serve its local member Mountain Parks Electric with reliable power. Proposed solutions include upgrading or rerouting the transmission line that connects Farr Pumping Plant at the end of County Road 64 with Windy Gap Electric Substation, near the intersection of Highway 125 and US Highway 40.
As a result of the input received since the first
open house held in July 2005, Western decided to
delay the project to best address comments through
additional resource analyses and alternative considerations. This
meeting will be held to share the results of our
studies and hear your thoughts about the project
alternatives. Representatives from Western
and other project stakeholders will be available
to answer questions and offer more information about
the project.
The proposed project is scheduled to begin construction
in summer 2007 and be in service in winter 2009. For
more information about the proposed project, visit http://www.wapa.gov/transmission/infragranby.htm.
