WASHINGTON, April 4, 1997 – Military tick watchers are trying to spread the word about the dangers of being in wooded and grassy areas during tick season.
DoD is using education as a tool to combat Lyme disease as well as other vector-borne diseases, said officials at the Army Center for Health Promotion and Preventive Medicine at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. The agency can also provide Technical Information Memorandum 36, "Personal Protection Against Insects and Other Arthropods of Military Importance"; posters; a 14-minute videotape; a slide presentation; wallet-sized tick identification cards and other material.
