Terrorist Bombs Kill 11 Iraqis, Wound 28

WASHINGTON, Feb. 21, 2006 – Eleven Iraqi civilians were killed and 28 others were wounded yesterday when terrorists detonated two vehicle bombs in Baghdad, military officials reported.

In the first incident, two Iraqi civilians were killed and 13 were wounded when a bus loaded with explosives detonated prematurely in northwestern Baghdad, a short distance from U.S. Forward Operating Base Justice.

Soldiers from Multinational Division Baghdad's 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, arrived on the scene to assist with the wounded.

In the second incident, nine Iraqi civilians were killed and 15 were wounded when a taxi loaded with explosives detonated by remote device southeast of Baghdad.

Soldiers from Multinational Division Baghdad's, 1st Battalion, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, assisted Iraqi police with securing the area.

Both incidents are under investigation by Iraqi authorities.
