Allow the terminally ill the honor of passing as they choose.

Families huddle together across the country struggling with life and death decisions for their loved ones. The opinions of Congress have no business in these painfully personal decisions. Teri Schivo was a perfect example of Congress “acting on behalf of the public” when they should have stayed home. If a dying family member makes a psychologically sound decision to end their pain then they should be allowed to pass as they please. If doctors have done all that they can do for an unresponsive patient and enough time has passed for a miracle to have happened then it is understandable and humane that a family might choose to shut down the machines that push breath through lungs that no longer live. Know your place as members of Congress; we know our place as citizens.

Yes, make this legal before the baby boom generation, in many cases against their own  wshes, starts clogging nursing homes and further bankrupts our next generation Americans.

Patients and families have the right to choose how they wish to die right now...if only our culture would encourage families to discuss how each wanted to die and develop an advance directive that health providers can honor.

Families and patients deserve to be educated on their rights and options for care including the use of hospice and end of life care.

Simply allowing patients/families the right to kill themselves when they see fit is not the perfect answer its made out to be.

While it should be a families choice the Teri shiavo case does not help your case. her husband wanted her dead and wanted the insurance money while her real family wanted her alive as she could eat, look, and smile as her mom walked into the room. Her family took care of her and knew she was alive but her husband who nurses suspected of hurting Teri wanted her gone. She basically was killed of starvation and dehydration because someone was selfish and to the rest of America her quality of life was not up to par. So please be careful what you pray for.....it could have been you or omeone in your family.

IS CHANGE.GOV A DECEPTION?

Why has Obama been ignoring the demand of his supporters for a single payer health care system?  Does he have political debts to the insurance companies, HMOs, and pharmaceutical corporations? Government officials don’t worry about “affordable” health care, they get it for free.  We should take health insurance off the backs of employers and have a generalized Medicare system for all citizens and resident aliens.  Are we who participate in this exercise being had?

If the terminal individual requests an assisted suicide, then it should be legal.

In other cases like Teri's, they should NOT be legal. The reason for the debate on her life was her husbands urgency for her life insurance payout. That's wrong.
