Scope and Content Note

The papers of Martin Oviatt span the years 1863-1995 and consist of a three-volume diary, 1863-1865, kept by Oviatt during his Civil War service with the Sixth Ohio Cavalry Regiment. Typewritten transcripts of the volumes for 1864-1865 prepared by a descendant in 1995 are also included.
