Canceling a new car title

When the sale of a vehicle has not been completed and it never left the dealership, but the vehicle was titled prior to the actual sale or pending loan approval, you must take the following steps to cancel it.

Important Note: The request must be received within 30 calendar days from the date the title was issued. If it is after 30 calendar days since the title was issued, the transaction cannot be cancelled from the MVC database; the record must be corrected. Please contact the Database Correction Unit at (609) 292-6500 ext. 5058
