WASHINGTON, July 18, 1997 About 120 soldiers from the Army's 3rd Special Forces Group at Fort Bragg, N.C., are slated to deploy July 21 to the African nations of Senegal and Uganda.
The deployment is part of DoD's African Crisis Response Initiative to help create effective, rapidly deployable battalion-sized peacekeeping units in selected African nations, according to DoD officials. U.S. European Command has operational responsibility for the program, which is intended to promote stability and improve military capabilities in African nations, the officials said.
