PUBLIC HEARINGS SET FOR BIG STONE II POWER PLANT AND TRANSMISSION PROJECT EIS
LAKEWOOD, Colo.—Seven utilities in the South Dakota and Minnesota area are proposing construction of a 600-MW, coal-fired electric generating station and associated transmission facilities, called the Big Stone II Power Plant and Transmission Project. A Draft Environmental Impact Statement is now available for public review.
Western Area Power Administration will host public hearings to receive oral comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed project. Hearings will be held:
A question and answer session with agency and project officials will be conducted prior to each public hearing from 5 to 6:45 p.m.
Written comments may be delivered at one of the hearings or sent to NEPA Document Manager, Big Stone II EIS (A7400), Western Area Power Administration, P.O. Box 281213, Lakewood, CO 80228-8213. Written comments must be postmarked no later than July 3, 2006.
