WESTERN RECOGNIZES WESTMINSTER RESIDENT FOR EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE

LAKEWOOD , Colo. — Westminster resident Ann Nikolas will receive Western Area Power Administration's highest honor at a ceremony May 25 at Western's Corporate Services Office, in Lakewood . Western's Administrator Mike Hacskaylo will present Nikolas with Western's Exceptional Service Award during the ceremony.

"I congratulate Ann Nikolas for making outstanding contributions to Western. Ann exemplifies the values we have outlined in our People Goal by serving her customers and peers with great dedication. Her multiple accomplishments remind us of the wide reach our organization has in our industry, our service territory and our nation," Hacskaylo said.

Nikolas receives the award for mentoring other Western employees, creating connections between property management staff throughout Western, presenting the property management community needs and concerns to management, as well as acting as the property liaison between the agency and the Department of Energy.

She improved several areas of property management by creating an automated barcoding system and benchmarks for Western's warehousing processes.

Nikolas is widely recognized for her work on Western's Moveable Property and Motor Vehicle Management System, where she created a system that reconciles property records with Western's financial records each month. She also helped create an on-line bill-paying process for General Services Administration fleet lease charges and Bank of America fuel cards.

Fifth-generation Colorado native, Nikolas and her husband Ron live in Westminster . She enjoys spending time with her family, including her 25-year-old daughter, who is currently in the clinical psychology doctoral program at Michigan State University , in East Lansing , Mich. Nikolas spends her spare time walking, hiking, watching local sports teams and following Notre Dame football, golfing, traveling and playing with the family dog, Riley.
