WATERTOWN RESIDENT COMPLETES CAREER PROGRAM

LAKEWOOD, Colo. –Watertown, SD resident Julie Matteson graduated from Western Area Power Administration's first Career Progression Program Jan. 12 at the Electric Power Training Center in Golden, Colo.

Matteson, who is a public utilities specialist, entered the program to become qualified as a information technology specialist. Participants gained business knowledge and developed core career skills through one year of individually designed developmental activities supplemented by selecting detail positions, sharing their experiences with each other and asking their mentors questions.

The 12-month, self-directed program provides training and appropriate developmental experience for Western employees in entry level jobs. It helps participants enhance their career paths and prepare for future roles while helping Western retain knowledge in crucial job skills.

During the graduation ceremony, Western’s Administrator, Mike Hacskaylo, congratulated Western’s CPP class and said, “Western’s first CPP graduating class members reflect the great talent of our workforce. You’ve demonstrated the ability to take charge of your own careers. I congratulate each of you on completing this significant accomplishment. I look forward to seeing how you put what you’ve learned into practice at Western.”
