Rochelle Granat Deputy Assistant Secretary for Human Resources and Chief Human Capital Officer
Rochelle Granat was appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary for Human Resources and Chief Human Capital Officer in March 2006. In this position, Ms. Granat is responsible for the management of a comprehensive human resources program for the Department of the Treasury, as well as for oversight of Treasury's Office of D.C. Pensions. Immediately prior to this appointment, Ms. Granat served as the Director, Office of D.C. Pensions, beginning in June 2004. As Director, she was the senior executive in charge of executing Treasury's complex responsibilities under Title XI of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, as amended. This Act transferred to Treasury certain responsibilities for District of Columbia retirement programs for police officers, firefighters, teachers and judges.
Immediately prior to becoming Director of the Office of D.C. Pensions, Ms. Granat served as Deputy Chief Counsel for General Law at the newly created Transportation Security Administration, where she was among the agency's first employees, starting in January 2002.
Ms. Granat enjoys a long history in the Department of the Treasury, having served as the Deputy Assistant General Counsel for General Law and Ethics, from May 1996 to January 2002, and in other legal positions within the Office of General Counsel and the Office of Chief Counsel, Bureau of the Public Debt, beginning in June 1985.
Ms. Granat has a B.A. from Barnard College, Columbia University, and a J.D. from the National Law Center, The George Washington University.
