Physician Assistant

Work Schedule: Full Time
Salary: $74,416 – $88,372
Location: Washington, DC metropolitan area


The Central Intelligence Agency is seeking experienced Physician Assistants to work with highly motivated individuals in an organization performing a mission critical to our nation. Responsibilities will include establishing and operating independent duty clinics; treating illness and medical emergencies to include trauma stabilization, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic testing; teaching in the areas of survival, field medicine, trauma stabilization, first-aid, CPR, etc; and performing administrative duties. Though the initial assignments and training are usually in the Washington, DC area, travel is extensive and candidates must be available for worldwide assignment. Entry salary is dependent upon experience. Additional allowances are available based on particular assignments. Hiring incentives are available with a 24-month service agreement.


Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree from an AAPA-approved program, current NCCPA certification and an excellent academic record (minimum 3.5 GPA) with a strong interest in international affairs and solid interpersonal and communication skills. Prior military medical experience or experience in an urban metropolitan area, Emergency Department, or experience in a rural urgent care facility is required. Foreign travel, foreign language proficiency, prior residency abroad and a background in Central Eurasian, East Asian Middle Eastern languages and cultures are preferred.

All applicants must successfully complete a thorough medical and psychological exam, a polygraph interview and an extensive background investigation. US citizenship is required.

To be considered suitable for Agency employment, applicants must generally not have used illegal drugs within the last twelve months. The issue of illegal drug use prior to twelve months ago is carefully evaluated during the medical and security processing.
