Enterprise Systems Engineer

Work Schedule: Full Time
Salary: $82,961 – $127,442
Location: Washington, DC metropolitan area

 

CIA Enterprise Systems Engineers provide a wide range of Information Technology (IT) systems design and computer architectural contributions to IT projects across the Agency. Each position offers an opportunity to bring all past experiences to bear while making a critical difference to ensure that the Agency leverages information, technology and people effectively in order to meet the serious and complex challenges to freedom today, and the even tougher challenges of tomorrow. Our Enterprise Systems Engineers ensure that Agency's IT systems will provide the decisive edge!

Working as part of a team, and/or as a subject matter expert, candidates will apply their sound technical background to analyzing alternative application software, network, security and hardware architectures. They contribute to the design, refinement and implementation of the preferred Agency architectures and architectural vision. They interpret and document system functions and requirements and communicate and coordinate this with the development team and the customer. By reviewing and analyzing customer requirements throughout the development process, they assist the project team in maintaining a balance among development cost, schedule and performance parameters. Our Enterprise Systems Engineers leverage their higher-level view of the CIA Enterprise Architecture to ensure interoperability and harmonious system operation. Success is defined by the ability to deliver a system that satisfies the requirements of our mission areas, including the foreign field.


Minimum qualifications include the following: Two or more years of experience in an engineering discipline with an emphasis on software, hardware or network development, integration and maintenance; one or more years of experience, performs duties similar to those of an Enterprise Systems Engineer. Work experience should include management of a complex project. It is expected that Expert Officers at the higher end of this profession will have more extensive experience in multiple systems engineering and/or IT architecture disciplines.

Education: B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, Science, or an equivalent technical degree program with specific, relevant work experience; completion of an advanced degree for Expert Officers at the higher end of this profession. All applicants must successfully complete a thorough medical and psychological exam, a polygraph interview and an extensive background investigation. US citizenship is required. A GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is also required.

To be considered suitable for Agency employment, applicants must generally not have used illegal drugs within the last twelve months. The issue of illegal drug use prior to twelve months ago is carefully evaluated during the medical and security processing.
