High School Science Stars to Compete

In National Science Bowl

On Sunday and Monday, May 2 and 3, a team of five students from Eureka High School will compete with other teams of high school students from across the country in U.S. Department of Energy's National Science Bowl Tournament.

The Eureka team earned the trip to the national competition by winning regional competition in Redding earlier this year.

"The Department of Energy developed the Science Bowl® to encourage high school students from across the nation to excel in math and science and to pursue careers in those fields," said U.S. Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson. "These competitions provide a forum for students and teachers to receive national recognition for their talent and hard work in science and math."

The Science Bowl competition will test the students' knowledge of astronomy, biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, earth, computer and general science.
