The American Way
60-Second Public Service Announcement by Vanessa Williams
American music—it’s hard to imagine it without the influence of Latin, African, and other cultures. Fact is, that’s the American Way—every day, diverse influences shape our evolving culture. And we are a better, stronger nation and people for it. I’m Vanessa Williams, here to remind you that when we value and respect our differences, we all benefit. And we all have the chance to participate in the opportunities America offers. Denying these opportunities to others is discrimination. And that’s not just wrong; it’s against the law. It is illegal to discriminate because of race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, or disability. If discrimination happens to you or someone you know, call the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights at 1-800-552-6843. Because when we reject intolerance and promote our diversity . . . we honor the best in us.
