Mobile, Alabama's oldest city from the period of European settlement, was founded in 1702 by French naval officer Jean Baptiste Le Moyne, Sieur de Bienville. Mobile:The New History of Alabama's First City traces the history of Mobile during the last three centuries. Mobile rescues the city's forgotten citizens from historical obscurity. Sugar-white gulf beaches, banana docks, Mardi Gras, Admiral Raphael Semmes, Fort Conde', John LeFlore, Bienville Square, Choctaw and Creek Indians, The USS Alabama they're all here. Published to coincide with the tricentennial celebrations, this historical reference book is for Library viewing only.

Every day, individuals and teams face dozens of problems that must be solved. How can they make decisions quickly and effectively? That's No Problem! A Problem-Free Approach to Problem Solving offers an easy-to-follow six-step process that can help you make a variety of business and personal decisions when working alone or with a group. HD 30.23 .C37 1997

According to the authors of Leadership and Self-Deception: Getting Out of the Box, the "disease" of self-deception (acting in a manner contrary to what you know is right) is the underpinning of all leadership problems in today's organizations. People who are in self-deception typically live their lives as though trapped in a box. Blind to the reality around them, they undermine both their performance as well as the performance of others. Being in the box, prevents them from seeing that they undermine performance. Consequently, they don't change, and neither do their results; however well intentioned they may be. Leadership and Self-Deception identifies self-deception, how people get trapped in it, how it kills organizational performance, and how to solve it. Breaking out of these destructive patterns lead to improved teamwork, commitment, trust, communication, motivation, and leadership. HD 57.7 .L4315 2000

CITING INTERNET SOURCES

With the increasing use of electronic journals, texts and other online resources in preparing technical reports, research and conference papers, questions often arise concerning the proper methodologies for citing these resources.  There are numerous websites that offer guidelines for citing internet sources.  My two favorites are listed here:

Columbia University Press Style Sheet.  This style sheet offers guidelines for basic citing of electronic sources, whether using the humanities style such as MLA or Chicago or scientific style such as APA or CBE.  Recommendations for citing electronic sources from the Internet, Email, Discussion Lists and Newsgroups, FTP, Telenet, Electronic Publications, Online Reference Sources, Software Programs and Video Games all appear in this instructional style sheet from Columbia University Press.

Style Sheet for Citing Print & Electronic Resources. This style sheet offers guidelines for citing both print and electronic resources. Examples are of APA, MCA, Chicago & Turabian styles. Also contains a section about plagiarism and how to avoid it. This site is sponsored by UC Berkeley Library.
