2008 Hawaii Collector’s Spoon (88Y)
Collector’s spoons have long been a popular way to remember a vacation or memorable place. Now you can commemorate your special state with a 50 State Quarters® Collector’s Spoon. The Hawaii Collector’s Spoon is 4 ½ inches long, with the Hawaii commemorative quarter-dollar mounted at the top and “HAWAII” spelled out in block lettering down the stem.The reverse of Hawaii’s quarter features Hawaiian monarch King Kamehameha I stretching his hand toward the eight major Hawaiian Islands. Inscriptions are the motto “UA MAU KE EA O KA ‘ĀINA I KA PONO” (“The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness”), “HAWAII” and “1959.” To ensure that all members of the public have fair and equal access to United States Mint products, any order placed prior to the official on-sale date and time (November 18, 2008, at 12:00 noon ET) shall not be deemed accepted by the United States Mint and will not be honored.
