Western employee Kenneth Iliff honored

GOLDEN, Colo.—Kenneth Iliff, assistant regional manager for operations at Western Area Power Administration in Phoenix, Ariz., was selected as one of five employees to receive the agency's 1998 Exceptional Service Award. He was presented with the award at special ceremonies today in Phoenix.

Given annually, the award is based on outstanding overall service, improving departmental goals, accomplishing responsibilities in an exemplary manner, showing unusual initiative, demonstrating outstanding executive or technical ability and displaying unusual devotion to duty.

Iliff, who has worked at Western since 1979, has distinguished himself as a manager who regularly "goes above and beyond the call of duty" to accomplish his duties and responsibilities. Among his many contributions, he provides excellent management and customer service skills throughout the organization and serves on and chairs various work-related boards and councils.

Michael S. Hacskaylo, Western's administrator who presented the award to Iliff, said, "It is a pleasure to recognize outstanding employees whose contributions to their work environment help Western meet its mission and goals. We honor Kenneth Iliff for his commitment to duty, team spirit, initiative and vision—qualities that create an atmosphere of pride and goodwill throughout our organization."

Iliff said he appreciates the award and is proud to work with the "great people" at Western. He said he enjoys working in an environment that has allowed and encouraged him to "grow personally and professionally."

He and his wife, Brenda, live in Peoria, Ariz. They have two grown children and three grandchildren. He enjoys golf, woodworking, hiking, singing in groups, working in his church and traveling.

Western Area Power Administration is a part of the U.S. Department of Energy. It annually markets and transmits more than 10,000 megawatts of power from hydroelectric powerplants owned and operated by the Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 15 central and western states.
