Western recognizes Redding resident
for exceptional service
LAKEWOOD, Colo.,—Redding resident Ross
McFate will
receive Western Area Power Administration’s highest honor at a ceremony
June 16
at Western’s Elverta Maintenance Facility. Western’s Administrator Mike
Hacskaylo will present McFate with Western’s Exceptional Service Award
during
the ceremony.
“I congratulate Ross McFate for making outstanding
daily
contributions to Western. A Western original, Ross exemplifies our values by
serving
his customers and peers with great dedication. His skills, initiative
and
commitment help to make Western a premier power marketing and
transmission
organization,” Hacskaylo said.
McFate, a foreman III lineman,
started his Federal service in 1977 with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation
as a
lineman in his hometown Redding, Calif. In 1978, he and the
transmission
lines he maintained transferred to Western.
McFate receives
Western’s highest
award for providing exceptional management of the Sierra Nevada
Region’s line
maintenance program and the Elverta and Redding line crews, and for
implementing
Reliability Centered Maintenance. His line maintenance program includes
aggressive right-of-way maintenance, well-planned equipment
replacement,
resolving underlying reliability problems and live-line maintenance
techniques.
McFate spends his free time NASCAR
racing, snow skiing, snowmobiling, camping and traveling. He and his
wife Dana, have three children; Terri, Sheri and Carlie.

assignments, such as dedicated participation on committees or task
forces
- Involve themselves in
outside activities that reflect favorably on Western

Western Area Power Administration
annually markets and transmits more than 10,000 megawatts of power from
hydroelectric powerplants owned and operated by the Bureau of
Reclamation and
the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 15 western and central states. It
is part
of the Department of Energy.
