Starting a Corporation


Whether for profit or nonprofit, corporations are legally formed in New Jersey through the Division of Revenue, Business Services Bureau. The Division of Revenue, Business Services Bureau also handles:
  • Applications by foreign corporations for Certificates of Authority to do business in New Jersey;
  • Applications for dissolution, merger or withdrawal;
  • Annual Report filing by all domestic and foreign corporations registered in New Jersey;
  • Applications for Certificate of Good Standing;
  • Registered Agent designation or change for both domestic and foreign corporations; and
  • Certificates of Formation of Limited Liability Companies.
