The United States Mint is honoring our Nation’s Presidents, in the order that they served, by issuing $1 circulating coins with their images on the obverse. Each Chief Executive is featured in an individual card holding the proof version of the Presidential $1 Coin honoring his presidency. These pocket-sized cards are perfect for introducing a young person to the hobby or for the experienced numismatist to begin a new collection.

An image of 8^th President of the United States, Martin Van Buren, appears on the obverse of this proof coin and the reverse features a striking rendition of the Statue of Liberty. This coin also features edge incused inscriptions of the year, “E Pluribus Unum, ” “In God We Trust, ” and the mint mark.

The size, weight and metal composition of the Presidential $1 Coins are identical to that of the Sacagawea Golden Dollar. Each coin is mounted in an individual protective, rotatable blister; edge-incused inscriptions on the coins are fully visible.

A limit of 5 units each per household is in effect for the first 30 days of this product’s release. At the end of the initial 30-day period, and each 30-day period thereafter, the United States Mint will reevaluate this limit and either extend, adjust or remove it.

To ensure that all members of the public have fair and equal access to United States Mint products, any order placed prior to the official on-sale date and time (October 27, 2008 at noon ET) shall not be deemed accepted by the United States Mint and will not be honored.
