Detailed Forecast Discussion |
Wednesday, January 14: A weak low-pressure system approaching Ohio from the west will produce light to moderate southerly winds in central Ohio, bringing pollutants into the region. Furthermore, snow showers and the associated high humidity will enhance particle production. As a result, AQI levels will be Moderate. Thursday, January 15: Westerly winds behind a departing low-pressure system will disperse pollutants and bring a clean, cold, and dry airmass into Columbus, limiting particle formation and leading to Good AQI levels. Friday, surface high pressure over Kentucky will produce moderate westerly winds in Columbus. These winds will disperse pollutants, keeping AQI levels Good. Saturday, a weak low-pressure system over the western Great Lakes will produce southwesterly winds across Ohio, transporting moisture and pollutants into the region, enhancing particle production and causing AQI levels to be Moderate. Sunday, westerly winds behind the departing low-pressure system will disperse pollutants and lower AQI levels to Good. Monday, southerly winds ahead of an approaching low-pressure system will transport pollutants into central Ohio, resulting in Moderate AQI levels. |
