The first critical component of the Heritage Education program, Teacher Workshops, was identified as a key reason for the program’s success. Teachers attended workshops that incorporated the actual lessons that their students would be completing.
This process proved valuable to the teachers, as a method of supporting the transition from lesson plan to lesson activity. It will not be possible for the Heritage Education coordinator to provide Teacher Workshops in every state.
Currently other alternatives exist that are being explored. For instance, though there will still be a need for some face-to-face meetings/workshops, “webinars” look to be a strong option to disseminate information and support to a larger audience.
