† Health advisories issued by the National Park Service area were based on State and local advisory forecasts. However, the measured ozone concentration in the Park may not exceeded the 8-hr average ozone standard.
The 8-hour ozone health standard can be exceeded anytime during a 24-hour day time period. Ozone health advisories are initiated during the daylight hours, therefore it is possible that the ozone health standard is exceeded at an area and an ozone health advisory is not issued.
Great Smoky Mountains NP – there were three days when the National Park Service issued ozone health advisories at the park. One of those days the advisory was for fine particulate matter (less than 2.5 microns) and ozone conditions. Two days the advisories were for ozone conditions only. The Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation Air Quality issued 37 forecasted ozone action days for Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Sequoia/Kings Canyon NPs – there were eighty–one days when the National Park Service issued ozone health advisories at the park. Two of those days the advisories were for fine particulate matter (less than 2.5 microns) and ozone conditions. There were an additional two days when advisories were issued for fine particulate matter (less than 2.5 microns) conditions only.
Yosemite NP – there were six days when the National Park Service issued ozone health advisories at the park. All six of those days the advisories were for fine particulate matter (less than 2.5 microns) and ozone conditions. There were an additional seven days when advisories were issued for as for fine particulate matter (less than 2.5 microns) conditions only.
