COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The Colorado Springs Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), located at 1521 Hancock Expressway, is scheduled to close at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 26. The DRC, which will be open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Thursday, is a joint center staffed by state, federal and voluntary agency officials who are able to answer questions and provide information about the types of disaster assistance that may be available to registered victims of the spring flooding.
The La Junta DRC at 215 Raton will remain open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, and closed Sunday. If you have questions about the status of an application you've already made, or you feel that the assistance you have received is insufficient to meet essential disaster-related losses, call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-525-0321 (TTY 1-800-462-7585), or visit the DRC in La Junta or DRC essential disaster-related needs, and low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Renters, homeowners and business owners who live or do business in Bent, El Paso, Larimer, Otero, Pueblo, or Weld counties may still be eligible for disaster aid.
Federal Coordinating Officer Scott Logan and State Coordinating Officer Tommy Grier urge those who suffered losses who haven't yet applied for assistance to call the toll-free registration line at 1-800-462-9029 to begin the application process. Operators are available between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Hearing or speech-impaired persons may call the TTY registration line at 1-800-462-7585. Assistance could include disaster housing assistance, grants to meet (202) 646-FEMA.
