Disaster Assistance Deadline Extended To September 7 For North Dakota Residents

BISMARCK, N.D. -- The deadline to register for disaster assistance has been extended to Sept. 7 for individuals and business owners in 42 North Dakota counties and four reservations who suffered losses due to severe storms, flooding, tornadoes, snow and ice, ground saturation, landslides and mudslides.
"This additional time allows North Dakotans in all declared areas the opportunity to register for assistance," said Federal Coordinating Officer Lesli A. Rucker.
State Coordinating Officer Adjutant General Keith Bjerke added, "If any person in the declared areas needs assistance due to damages suffered between March 1 and July 19 and hasn't yet registered, we encourage them to call FEMA to begin the registration process."
People may register for assistance by calling FEMA's toll-free number, 1-800-462-9029 (TTY: 1-800-462-7585 for the hearing- or speech-impaired). The lines are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
To date, more than 7000 North Dakota households and businesses have registered for assistance. Statewide, more than $8.5 million in grants and low-interest loans have been made available for emergency rental assistance, home and business repair and replacement of personal property.
