Denver, CO -- Federal and state disaster assistance may be available to help individuals, including Mesa Verde National Park Service employees, and businesses in Montezuma County recover from the effects of the Long Mesa fire in Colorado, according to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Colorado Office of Emergency Management officials.
Residents and business owners in Montezuma County may be eligible for Individual Assistance programs. Loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration are available for businesses that are suffering disaster-related cash flow problems and need funds for working capital to recover from the disaster's adverse economic impact.
Disaster assistance may also help people who were evacuated and incurred lodging expenses not covered by insurance. Disaster-related unemployment assistance and grants for serious needs and necessary expenses not met by other programs are also available.
Everyone impacted by the wildfires is encouraged to call 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) to register for disaster assistance. Individuals who are speech or hearing impaired should call TTY 1-800-462-7585 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays.
