PREVLINE

PREVLINE is the premiere site for alcohol and drug information brought to you by SAMHSA's National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information. Sponsored by the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), PREVLINE reaches over a quarter-million users each month. PREVLINE includes reports, training materials, statistics, news articles, resources and referrals, a calendar, research briefs, a publications catalog, and forums. It also includes numerous databases and is fully searchable. Interactive pieces include the DynaTable, which shows the number of new users of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs in real time and automatically updates every 10 seconds. Prevention Dollars at Work shows the costs of substance abuse problems and allows users to determine potential savings of prevention efforts. The GirlPower! games for 9- to 14- year-old girls include a coloring book, a "word lib" that lets girls fill in words to create a story, a nutrition and fitness quiz, a choose your own ending story, and "Hang Girl," a takeoff of Hang Man. PREVLINE also highlights various campaigns, such as Native American Heritage Month and Black History Month and features CSAP campaigns, such as Your Time-Their Future. Partnerships '98 Technology Games awarded the For Kids Only area of PREVLINE the "Cool for Kids Award."
