™
is a dynamic and interactive cancer information
Web site from the National Cancer Institute that serves patients, health professionals, and the public.
It provides detailed, peer-reviewed information on types of cancer, treatment options, clinical trials,
genetics, causes of cancer, risk factors, prevention, coping with cancer, supportive care resources,
and more. Recently, CancerNet™
underwent a redesign that involved extensive testing of navigation and
organization of information with current and potential Web site users.
Site enhancements include:
- prepackaged pages on specific types of cancer
- full-text search capability
- enhanced search capability for clinical trials
- expanded Cancer Genetics Services Directory of professionals who provide cancer genetics risk assessment, counseling, and related services
- peer-reviewed cancer information summaries enhanced with links to cancer literature abstracts
- tools for new users, including a site map, first-time visitor FAQ, information about alternative ways to get NCI cancer information (fax, e-mail), and details about how the site's managed and its privacy policy
- expanded dictionary of cancer terms
- online publications ordering service
- expanded list of links to external Web sites and more.
