Medicare.gov

The U.S. Government's official Medicare Web site is a reliable source for consumer health information. The site maintains several interactive databases, Medicare publications, and state-specific contact information to help answer questions. Much of the site's information is available in both Spanish and Chinese. From the privacy of their homes, visitors can learn about Medicare benefits, available health plans, long-term care options, wellness tips, and upcoming outreach activities in their states. For example, Medicare Compare, an Interactive database, shows health plan premiums and benefits, helping users decide which plan best fits their needs. Nursing Home Compare, another interactive database, has quality of care data on every Medicare and Medicaid certified nursing home in the United States. Users can locate nursing homes in their area, as well as determine how well these organizations comply with government regulations. The Outreach Calendar, yet another interactive database available on the site, displays upcoming events for beneficiaries, such as health fairs or presentations that discuss Medicare coverage and services. These interactive databases enable Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and their caregivers to make better health care choices.
