Krames On-Demand is the first electronic patient education system to combine detailed graphics with concise, easy-to-understand text in a well-conceived information design. Its anatomically correct and realistic illustrations build comprehension of conditions and procedures, and deliver step-by-step instructions for "need-to-know" skills. Concise text at 6th grade reading level facilitates clear communication with patients and their family members. Krames On-Demand lets educators select from HealthSheets on 450 topics, personalize them to the patient's needs, and print out highly illustrated, patient-focused educational materials. Also included are 150 titles in Spanish; giving a total of 600 HealthSheets in all. It offers print-on-demand efficiency and convenience, and delivers the management functions needed in today's busy healthcare environment. These functions include the ability to store education sessions in a database that can be accessed by the hospital's EMR system; create custom groupings of HealthSheets to meet the needs of clinics or hospital departments; add content to the system, including local resources, forms, and specialized care instructions; and search for educational materials by keyword. Krames On-Demand is designed to run on hospital or healthcare organization Intranets. A basic version runs stand-alone on any PC or Mac equipped with a Web browser.
