Tax Relief for Victims of May 2004 Storms

MILWAUKEE — The Internal Revenue Service today announced special tax relief for Wisconsin taxpayers in the Presidential Disaster Area that was struck by severe storms and flooding during the period May 19 – July 3, 2004.

The disaster area consists of 44 counties: Adams, Brown, Calumet, Chippewa. Clark, Columbia, Crawford, Dane, Dodge, Eau Claire, Fond du Lac, Grant, Green, Green Lake, Iowa, Jackson, Jefferson, Juneau, Kenosha, La Crosse, Lafayette, Marathon, Marquette, Milwaukee, Monroe, Outagamie, Ozaukee, Portage, Racine, Richland, Rock, Sauk, Shawano, Sheboygan, Taylor, Trempealeau, Vernon, Walworth, Washington, Waukesha, Waupaca, Waushara, Winnebago and Wood..

  • The Federal Tax Deposit (FTD) Penalty Waiver Period for employment and excise tax deposits is May 19 – June 1, 2004.
  • The Extension Period for returns and other tax payments is May 19 – Aug. 20, 2004.
  • The Disaster Designation for this area is “May Storms – Wisconsin” — taxpayers mark certain relief-related forms with this designation.
