Tax Relief for Victims of Hurricane Jeanne

FORT LAUDERDALE / JACKSONVILLE — The Internal Revenue Service today announced special tax relief for Floridians in the Presidential Disaster Area that was struck by Hurricane Jeanne.

The disaster area consists of 47 counties: Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Brevard, Charlotte, Citrus, Clay, Columbia, DeSoto, Dixie, Duval, Flagler, Gilchrist, Glades, Hamilton, Hardee, Hendry, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Indian River, Jefferson, Lafayette, Lake, Levy, Madison, Manatee, Marion, Martin, Nassau, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Putnam, St. Johns, St. Lucie, Sarasota, Seminole, Sumter, Suwannee, Taylor, Union and Volusia.

  • The Federal Tax Deposit (FTD) Penalty Waiver Period for employment and excise tax deposits is Sept. 24 – Oct. 8, 2004.
  • The Extension Period for returns and other tax payments is Sept. 24 – Dec. 30, 2004.
  • The Disaster Designation for this area is “Hurricane Jeanne” — taxpayers mark certain relief-related forms with this designation in red.
