IRS Grants Tax Relief for New Jersey Storm Victims

 

NJ-2005-15

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. — The Internal Revenue Service today announced special tax relief for New Jersey taxpayers in the Presidential Disaster Area that was struck by severe storms and flooding April 1-3, 2005.

The disaster area consists of nine counties: Bergen, Essex, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and Warren.             

  • The Federal Tax Deposit (FTD) Penalty Waiver Period for employment and excise tax deposits was April 1 to April 18, 2005.
  • The Extension Period for returns and other tax payments is April 1 to June 20, 2005.
  • The Disaster Designation for this area is “Storms and Floods–NJ” — taxpayers mark certain relief-related forms in red with this designation.
