IRS Grants Tax Relief for Indiana Storm Victims

INDIANAPOLIS — The Internal Revenue Service today announced special tax relief for Indiana taxpayers in the Presidential Disaster Area that was struck by severe winter storms and flooding from Jan. 1, through Feb. 11, 2005.

The disaster area consists of 85 counties: Adams, Allen, Bartholomew, Benton, Blackford, Boone, Brown, Carroll, Cass, Clark, Clay, Clinton, Crawford, Daviess, Decatur, Dearborn, DeKalb, Delaware, Dubois, Elkhart, Fayette, Floyd, Fountain, Franklin, Fulton, Gibson, Grant, Greene, Hamilton, Hancock, Harrison, Hendricks, Henry, Howard, Huntington, Jackson, Jasper, Jay, Jennings, Johnson, Knox, Kosciusko, Lake, LaPorte, Lawrence, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Martin, Miami, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Newton, Noble, Orange, Owen, Parke, Pike, Porter, Posey, Pulaski, Putnam, Randolph, Ripley, Rush, Scott, Shelby, St. Joseph, Starke, Sullivan, Tippecanoe, Tipton, Union, Vanderburgh, Vermillion, Vigo, Wabash, Warren, Warrick, Washington, Wayne, Wells, White and Whitley.

  • The Federal Tax Deposit (FTD) Penalty Waiver Period for employment and excise tax deposits is Jan. 1-10, 2005.
  • The Extension Period for returns and other tax payments is Jan. 1 – March 25, 2005.
  • The Disaster Designation for this area is “Winter Storms–IN” — taxpayers mark certain relief-related forms in red with this designation.
