The IRS/TEI Nashville Liaison Committee charted a subcommittee in 2002 to develop educational material for TEI members regarding return audit selection and the examination process.
IRS/TEI Nashville Liaison Sub-Committee Mission Statement
Purpose:
The purpose of the IRS/TEI Liaison Sub-Committee is:

To involve the Large and Mid-Size Business (LMSB) taxpayer in the pre-planning process,
-
Assist Taxpayers in becoming more informed about the audit process, and
-
To assist Taxpayers in becoming familiar with early audit resolution tools.
Objectives:
The objectives of the IRS/TEI Liaison Sub-Committee are:

To improve voluntary compliance by including the Taxpayer in the pre-planning process,

Improve voluntary compliance by providing IRS and TEI sponsored taxpayer education programs and information about the audit process including pre-filing opportunities and
-
To reduce the burden of and improve efficiency of the audit process by IRS and TEI joint participation in
-
Preparation of a booklet on the pre-audit planning process,
-
Development of general guidelines of documents necessary for planning,
-
Development of guidelines for use of early resolution tools.
