Clay Johnson, III, assistant to the President for presidential personnel, presided over the ceremony held at the Navy Museum.

"The President's selection of Susan Schanlaber will be a great benefit to the ACHP," said Chairman John L. Nau, III. "Her expertise in adaptive reuse of historic structures exemplifies the trend towards preserving America's heritage by allowing historic structures to serve contemporary needs. She is a great asset to the ACHP."

She also serves on the Chicago Advisory Board of The Trust for Public Land and the Board of the Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois in Chicago. An independent Federal agency, the ACHP promotes historic preservation nationally by providing a forum for influencing Federal activities, programs, and policies that impact historic properties by advising the President and Congress, advocating preservation policy, improving Federal preservation programs, protecting historic properties, and educating stakeholders and the public. The ACHP is located in Washington, DC, with a field office in Colorado. For more information, visit the ACHP's Web site at www.achp.gov.
