Hispanic Heritage Month 2006
Hispanic Americans are now the largest minority population in our country, and this population is expected to continue to grow significantly. As the Administration on Aging (AoA) honors and celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15 through October 15, 2006, we recognize the need to make significant progress in improving the health status of Hispanic Americans as a way to positively affect our nation's health.
In 2004, Hispanic elderly made up six percent of the older population. By 2028, the Hispanic population aged 65 and older is projected to be the largest racial/ethnic minority in this age group.
